Adoption Application

ADOPTING- IS IT THE RIGHT TIME???

The ideal time to adopt a dog is when there are no major changes in your life (moving, having a baby, divorce, etc.)  and you are in a financial position to support a dog. Will you be able to provide a quality diet, a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise every day, yearly check ups at the vet, yearly dental cleanings, or what if an emergency were to arise?  A stable environment is the best situation, whereas you can devote your time and energy to get your new addition accustom into his/her new home.

An adoption application must be submitted and approved before scheduling a meet and greet.

Once the adoption application is approved, there is a home check that must be done and then the meet and greet. If all goes well, there is a 1 week trial period to make sure the dog and family are a good fit before making the adoption final.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND:

ANY DOG TRANSITIONING INTO A NEW ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULE NEEDS A MINIMUM OF 3 WEEKS TO ADJUST! House trained dogs may have accidents in their new home, they may have anxiety when left alone or crated, and may be timid for a few days or more.

WHEN A DOG ENTERS A NEW HOME, THE DOG NEEDS TIME TO DECOMPRESS. WE RECOMMEND KEEPING THE NEW DOG SEPARATE FROM ALL OTHER PETS, WHERE THE NEW DOG CAN OBSERVE THEIR NEW SURROUNDINGS, PEOPLE, AND OTHER PETS. ONCE THE DOG HAS HAD THE PROPER AMOUNT OF TIME TO DECOMPRESS, THEN INTODRUCTIONS TO OTHER ANIMALS NEEDS TO BE DONE VERY SLOWLY, ON LEASH ONLY! IF YOU NEED HELP WITH THIS, PLEASE CONTACT US AND SOMEONE EXPERIENCED WITH PROPER INTRODUCTIONS WILL COME HELP YOU. THIS IS TO AVOID ANY DOG FIGHTS AND UNNECESSARY VET BILLS.

The adoption fee and signed adoption contracts are due before the start of the home trial, if you decide not to adopt, the dog is returned and the adoption contract is destroyed. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and non-refundable.
